“Building “Windows 8″: Delivering fast boot times (video)”

True, until the whole process is halted by the unnecessary lock screen.

Which has been removable in every windows version with a lock screen.

[quote<]Mike Capps: Epic Games has a PC-exclusive game in the works - Joystiq[/quote<] What a joke. You know this is going to be something like Quake Live. Perhaps Unreal Free! Or Unreal: The Flash Game. Or something to do with a version of Infinity Blade for browsers. "Exclusively for PC!" Because, after all, PC gamers are all pirates and thieves. We don't pay for games. Otherwise, why would Unreal Tournament 3 and Bulletstorm bomb so badly? Right? RIGHT? "Press start to continue. Please log into your Games for Windows Live account to access your game. Be sure not to try and edit your config file. We're encrypting them."

[quote<]Tbreak's hands-on with Nokia PureView 808[/quote<] What? Only 41 megapixels? What crappy camera..... :p On a more serious note, anyone plan on buying this?

The tech for the PureView is really cool. It lets you have losses digital zoom. I cannot wait to see this in a WP device. Rumors are that Microsoft knows they need to get Apollo out sooner than later so they can compete spec wise with Android devices. When that happens you will see this tech in WP phones.

You know, I’d be willing to pay real money for a smartphone that had a real, quality zoom lens in it. And don’t tell me it can’t be done, when I’ve been carrying a Sony W-series camera around with just such a lens (a Zeiss, too, I think) in a small, thin package for years. I’d be OK with my smartphone being just a bit thicker and a bit heavier if it meant I’d never have to carry a quality digital camera with me again….

Are you referring to a smartphone with an optical zoom? Well those are quite rare, and tend to be bulky. Zoom won’t be as near as high as a point-n-shoot cameras (examples – Altek Leo, Samsung W880, Spice S-1200, LG – L-03C). You could also, just fit a telescope. I think there’s even one for the iPhone.

Thanks for the link! But they don’t look like very smart smartphones. But exactly what I mean, and yeah, I’d buy one.

I’m very interested in getting the 808. I really don’t want to leave symbian. I’ll wait to see if WP 8 has at least equal functionality to the current Nokia belle OS.

[quote<] BF3Blog: Battlefield 3 Close Quarters PAX gameplay [/quote<] looks awful and plays awful, are they trying to turn Battlefield into gay of duty or what and only 8 vs 8, are you kidding me, not even 16v16. I'll definitely pass on this stupid dlc. [quote<] GameSpot AU reports Gears of War: Exile cancelled [/quote<] Cliff Bleszinski is a tool.

[quote<]Bloomberg reports ex-Intel worker pleads guilty to stealing design documents[/quote<] What say AMD steal the whole Sandy Bridge design and clone it? That would probably put them in a better competitive situation, not to mention bringing a tear in the eyes of those who remember the good old days when every AMD chip was an Intel clone. Ok, just being sarcastic.

You know what I want to read one day… a sim card that won’t charge you an arm and a leg for data roaming while travelling that doesn’t screw you while you’re at home and doesn’t require you to carry around 10 different SIM cards depending on which country you are in and the need to plug into iTunes to get the damn thing to activate when you go to a new country and have to buy a new one.

      • mikehodges2

I have a SIM that fits all your criteria.

You just have to make sure it isn’t plugged into a phone.

      • Deanjo

That’s one advantage of living in NA. Huge land masses with national coverage. Sim cards here usually get put into a phone once and never get taken out.

        • UberGerbil

Unless you take frequent trips over one or both of the borders in NA, and thus find yourself swapping SIM cards again (at least it’s only a couple) or paying through the nose for roaming. (At least, that’s what I’ve seen. If there’s an American carrier that allows you to roam in Canada, including data, without paying huge amounts I’d love to know about it).

I’d like to see a SIM card that prevents massive run-on sentences.
