Asus, Athlon. Athlon, Asus.

The amazing Zak sends mail alerting us of a bit of news at iXBT Labs. It seems Asus has a range of Athlon motherboards in the works based on Via's new chipset. Reprtedly on the agenda:

K7V - Slot A, AGP 4x, 4 memory slots with PC133 support, AC'97 audio, AMR
K7V-M - Slot A, AGP 4x, 4 memory slots with PC133 support, AC'97 + Aureal audio, AMR, LAN
X7V - Socket A, AGP 4x, 4 memory slots with PC133 SDRAM and DDR SDRAM support, audio, AMR
X7V-M - Socket A, AGP 4x, 4 memory slots with PC133 SDRAM and DDR SDRAM support, AMR, LAN
I'm not sure what I think of the on-board audio in the current K7M, so the K7V-M's Aureal chip is a welcome addition. Of course, I'd trade it all for DDR SDRAM support.
