[url<]http://www.anandtech.com/show/6444/intels-next-unit-of-computing-hands-on[/url<] I'm still looking for a nice, quiet, tiny HTPC. This is very close to fitting the bill, but I'd like to have at least one USB3.0 port in it

    In other news,

Intel just released new Itanium processors and they are beasts.

I’m getting one for my smartphone! (j/k)

I can’t decide what is scarier: The 170 watt TDP on the high-end chip, or the fact that a 170 watt TDP is actually a [b<]reduction[/b<] from the previous generation. Interesting factoid: Apparently each core is a measly 89 million transistors and the new cores are actually using ~20 million [b<]fewer[/b<] transistors than in the old cores from the older Itaniums, even though the new cores are 12-wide issue while the old ones were only 6-wide. Basically: When you buy an Itanium you are purchasing 54 MB of high-speed SRAM that happens to have some logic cores thrown in as a bonus feature... weird weird architecture.

Oh please. George Lucas had been whoring out Star Wars characters long before the Disney sale was even on the cards. For the last year they’ve been selling Vodafone services here and before that, it was Dixons. Not to mention the Volkswagen adverts

He had R2D2 for sale at a Verizon store in one TV ad. Lost out to a Droid, I think.

        “R2D2 comes with an X-Fighter”

“Yeah, but I’ll bet that’s terrible on gas”

This really is quite a short shortbread. Although there have been much shorter ones in the past…
