well done TR! well done. entry should have had a minimum of 20 posts.

There are plenty of long time readers that haven’t registered yet. I began reading TR way before i registered. So what if they did just to enter the competition?

The minimum post count required to participate is all well and good but it will just cause a big amount of spam on the forums….unless they are happy with the traffic thanks to ads….hmmmm maybe it’s a good idea.

Registering only gives you access to post in the forums and comment sections. If you just want to read the articles (…lol…) you don’t need to register at all.

If TR wanted to make it exclusive to forum posters, they would probably post giveaways like this in a member-locked section of the forums.

I won a copy of Just Cause 2, but that was a contest, not a giveaway.

Upon hearing this unfortunate news, I called my mother, crying, explaining that I hadn’t won the 7870s. She said to me in a soft voice, “You’ll always be my little winner.” Tears rolled down my eyes, and I realized I didn’t need stinkin’ 7870s, cuz I’ll always be a winner!!

    Free hugs for everyone!!!!

inb4 conspiracy theory about 2 completely ethnic names being chosen as winners. Is this forum really THIS diverse? Just judging from the top commentors here, this is definitely a North American or Major-Euro Country. Would I be so cynical(racist?) to ask for the join date of these people? I just have this eery feeling of “contest trolls” joining whatever sites have contest for free things, to have a certain % chance of winning (through spam accounts) of a prize. Multiply that by a couple dozen sites, a week… Now you have a job (almost automated by scripts) that pays $200-$1000 on a few hours of work, something that could be done as a sidejob.

Ok yeah I’m getting way too paranoid / upset about not winning >_>.

    Techreport/Gigabyte,

Thanks a million for this great giveaway.

WOW. I won. Thanks a lot for providing a chance to win a great products. You are my best source for tech info.Tech report is the site that I have been using as the main source for my Tech info since 2006-2007.

In addition, I would like thank Gigabyte and AMD for their great products. First, IMHO,Gigabyte is the true innovator and great AMD graphics cards and Motherboard builder. Gigabyte truely stand behind their products.

Now, I will be replacing a single AMD Radeon HD 6970 with the new AMD Radeon HD 7870 Crossfire setup.

    The host rig is:
    i7-2600K @ 4.5 GHz
    16GB DRAM
    2x120GB Vortex 3 SSD Max-IOPS edition
    1TB WD 7200rpm 6Gbps 64 MB Cache.
    2x 24″ Dell Ultra 2412M

Now, what and where should I order a great Gigabyte Crossfire certified Power Supply?
    Which one of those?

I am a Design Verification Engineer, Consultant and I do work for my Co. DVArts Solutions, LLC. My work is verifying SOC designs at the chip level. I graduated with honors in ’91 with BE in Computer and Communication Engineering. Master of Engineering in ’94. And, did PhD studies from 94′ to ’98.

This is my first wining of any giveaway since 1994. Back then, I won an IBM OS/2 Warp at a Computer Show, in Montreal, Qc, Canada.

        Disclaimer:
I have no business relationship with AMD/Gigabyte or Techreport whatsoever. I am just a customer for any high -tech gadgetry and computer products. I prefer AMD Graphics cards and I would either buy ASUS or Gigabyte Montherboards (I had many GB MB. over the years).

Thanks for the nice comments. For others, please have a positive attitude in your life, it would help you live happier.

You know, websites are a LOT bigger than just the active forum community. Part of the point for having contests of this sort is to get lurkers to jump the small but meaningful hurdle and actually participate in some way, after which they may do it again.

So, option one is that you welcome him to the site, and maybe we all get a new participant out of the deal.

Or, option 2, gargle the sour grapes until your throat shrivels up like a lemon. Whichever. But the prize drawing is done and gone regardless.

Since 2006, I have been reading the Tech report news site and use the check prices frequently for my purchases. All of that does not need a sign-in, Am I correct, or no?

However, to be able to post a comment, I had to sign-in. Was it a bad idea to be able to express my feelings and say a simple thanks!

      Gratz bro.

As for PSU i wouldn’t exactly go for Gigabyte, no dissrespect, but they haven’t yet earned their strips in that market imo.

I owned both OCZ/Crossair PSUs. However, all where for powering single Video AMD cards with total of power less than 650W. Now, once the new 2X7870 land here, I for sure need to hunt for a New PSU with power rating of 760-850 Watts.

Not sure what to buy. Time to do dome more Research on PSUs.

I would go for the Corsair TX750 or HX750 or higher. You will need something with at least 4 PCIe 6-pin plugs.
