Nvidia bundles GeForce GTX cards with free-to-play credit

Well, it was only a matter of time before AMD's Never Settle Reloaded bundle got a little competition from Nvidia. The rival GPU maker's attempt is a little... unusual, though. While AMD is offering triple-A blockbusters like Crysis 3 and BioShock Infinite, Nvidia is giving folks credit for free-to-play games.

Yep. No free games—just credit to spend on items in Hawken, PlanetSide 2, and World of Tanks:

To be fair, the Nvidia offer is worth a decent chunk of change: $150 of credit with GeForce GTX 660 or faster graphics cards and $75 with the GTX 650 and GTX 650 Ti. That's not bad, given that the GTX 660 can be nabbed for as little as $209.99 after a mail-in rebate. By comparison, the AMD bundles are worth the price of two new retail titles, so around $100-120.

I can't help but feel that this offer lacks the pizazz of the AMD one, though. The sense of value is clearly more abstract, given that anyone is free to download and play Hawken, PlanetSide 2, and World of Tanks without paying anything. Extra in-game goodies may improve the experience, but I'm not sure they have quite the same entertainment value as a whole new game—or two.
