Deal of the week: A Radeon HD 7950 for $188, and a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB for $165

We've all been busy today with our new system guide and other projects, so let's keep our deal post short and sweet, shall we?

  • Newegg has an MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr graphics card on sale for just $177.99. The regular list price is $219.99, but you can go down to $197.99 with a 10%-off promo code (VME10BTS), and a mail-in rebate shaves off an extra $20. The card comes with a Crysis 3 voucher and is eligible for AMD's Never Settle Forever Gold bundle, which gets you an additional three games free of charge. That's an impressive bargain, especially when you consider that the 7950 sold for over $300 just a few months ago.
  • The newly released Samsung 840 EVO 250GB is down to $164.70 after a 10%-off promo code (VME10BTS). That works out to about 66 cents per gig. The 840 EVO 250GB launched at $190 just last month, so it's nice to see it discounted so steeply already. Be sure to check out our review of the 500GB version if you haven't already done so.

(Thanks to SlickDeals for the heads up on these deals.)

North of the border, NCIX's Back 2 School Sale Event is underway. There are plenty of deals to peruse, and I haven't had time to look through them all just yet. However, I did notice that Seagate's HDD.15 4TB hard drive is down to only $159.99 CAD (and that's without special coupons or mail-in rebates). Just be aware that this isn't one of Segate's fastest drives, so while it's a fine mass-storage workhorse, we advise against sticking your OS and applications on it.
