The new Transformer Book T200 follows the same basic recipe as the T100: detachable keyboard, Windows 8.1, and Intel's Bay Trail silicon under the hood. However, the new system is a little bigger, spreads its 1366x768 display resolution across a larger 11.6" panel, and features a user-accessible 2.5" drive bay inside its dock.
A $399.99 version of the T200 is available at Best Buy—exclusively, Liliputing says. That config comes with a 1.46GHz Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of solid-state storage. A $499 variant of the T200 is also available at e-tailers like Newegg and TigerDirect; it has a 1.6GHz Atom chip, more memory and storage (4GB and 64GB, respectively), and Windows 8.1 x64 instead of the 32-bit version.
$499 isn't a bad price for that kind of a machine, especially given the quoted 8.5-hour battery run time. The keyboard and touchpad on the T200's detachable dock also look meatier and more comfortable to use than the T100's. That could make the new system a better part-time productivity machine.
