Ubisoft has posted the hardware requirements for the PC version of Assassin's Creed Unity, and they're a doozy. In addition to 50GB of free storage space and a 64-bit version of Windows 7 SP1 or later, the minimum requirements call for:
- Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or AMD Phenom II x4 940 @ 3.0 GHz
- RAM: 6 GB
- Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 (2 GB VRAM)
Yep, that's six gigs of RAM and a high-end Kepler GPU at minimum. For the record, the GTX 680 is equivalent to the newer GTX 770, which sells for $250 today.
The recommended requirements are even steeper:
- Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or better
- RAM: 8 GB
- Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 290X (3 GB VRAM)
Yikes. Sounds like some folks are gonna have to upgrade. Good thing we've got a new System Guide coming next week.
Assassin's Creed Unity is set during the French Revolution and will hit the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 11.
