Arkham Knight requires at least 2GB of graphics memory

The system requirements are out for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight, and the new game will need more power than its predecessor. Those looking to turn up the eye candy will need a recent, muscular system.

Here are the minimum requirements:

  • OS: Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz | AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 | AMD Radeon HD 7870 - 2 GB Memory Minimum
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 45 GB available space

And here are the recommended specs:

  • OS: Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz | AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - 3 GB Memory Recommended
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 55 GB available space

That 2GB minimum for graphics memory is unusual. Several other recent titles, including GTA V, Watch Dogs, and The Witcher 3, only require 1GB of VRAM. The recommended 3GB may also be a sticking point, especially since the GeForce GTX 760 usually ships with 2GB of RAM.

The 55GB installed size is hefty, too, but the minimum specs only require 45GB. Maybe there's an option to install higher-resolution textures, or maybe the lower figure is just a typo. We'll keep an eye out for more information as the game's June 23 release date draws closer.
