The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Project Cars aren't running so well right now for those with AMD graphics cards. The fight over Project Cars is especially ugly. Developer Slightly Mad Studios has gone so far as to officially deny accusations that it intentionally crippled performance for the red team's Radeons by using PhysX. Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red has also come under fire for implementing Nvidia's HairWorks, which reportedly performs poorly on AMD cards (and, to be fair, on Nvidia's own hardware, too).
Whatever the cause of these problems, AMD seems to believe it can improve performance in these games with an updated driver. The company posted the following statement on its website yesterday:
AMD is committed to improving performance for the recently-released Project CARS and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. To that end, we are creating AMD Catalyst™ 15.5 Beta to optimize performance for these titles, and we will continue to work closely with their developers to improve quality and performance. We will release AMD Catalyst™ 15.5 Beta on our website as soon as it is available.
AMD doesn't offer an ETA for this new beta driver, but in the meantime, it has provided a set of recommended settings for The Witcher 3 owners that could improve performance.
