Deals of the week: iPads, a Dell 24" display, and a Radeon R9 290X

Happy Friday, dear readers. Let's delve into the depths of online retail once again and see what discounted gems we can find. Best Buy is holding a "Black Friday in July" sales event today, and some of their deals are actually quite good, especially on Apple products. Let's get to it.

First up, we have the 128GB version of Apple's iPad mini 3 for just $449. The Wi-Fi only model of this slate is normally $600, but Best Buy has slashed $150 off the regular price for its aforementioned sales event. The latest mini gets the fancy Touch ID fingerprint sensor from the iPhone 6, and its 7.9" Retina display offers a 2048-by-1536-pixel canvas for iOS. Its Apple A7-powered internals should provide swift performance, too.

If you'd rather have a bigger, more powerful tablet, Best Buy is also offering $125 off Apple's iPad Air 2 in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB flavors. The Air 2 is the most powerful iOS device you can buy, and it'll soon be the only iPad that can take advantage of iOS 9's split-screen multitasking when the new operating system arrives in the fall. That's thanks to its A8X CPU and 2GB of RAM.

Best Buy also has Motorola's Moto E smartphone for just $45 on Verizon Wireless' prepaid network. The Moto E offers LTE support, 8GB of onboard storage (expandable with microSD cards up to 32GB), a 5MP camera, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core SoC running at 1.2GHz. The specs are modest, but hey, it's a $45 no-contract smartphone running Android 5.0.

We have some PC component deals today, as well. Newegg is selling Sapphire's Tri-X Radeon R9 290X for a mere $280. That's a pretty incredible price for a card of the 290X's caliber, and Sapphire's beefy triple-fan cooler should keep Hawaii's tropical temperatures in check.

Need a 24" monitor? Newegg also has Dell's Ultrasharp U2415 display for only $240 with the promo code EMCAVNK23. This display features a 1920x1200 IPS panel that's factory-calibrated to cover 99% of the sRGB gamut, with a delta-E of less than 3. If you need color-correctness on the cheap, this display could be the way to go.

These are the best deals we could find this week. Be sure to share any we missed with other readers in the comments.
