CCP Games has a new VR shooter in the works, dubbed EVE: Gunjack. Not to be confused with CCP's previously-announced EVE: Valkyrie, Gunjack is built for the new version of Samsung's Gear VR for the Galaxy S6. The game is reminescent of old-school rail shooters—except for the full-scale immersion. Check out the release trailer:
Gunjack puts the player in the shoes of a mining rig turret operator. The mission at hand: settle a disagreement with space pirates concerning ownership of certain resources with the judicious application of defense weaponry. Gunjack's gameplay style is more fast-paced arcade shooter than space sim. Enemies come in regular waves, and judging by the video, it looks to be an on-rails experience, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. CCP says the game is set to be a "pick up and play" experience, so it could make up in raw action what it might lack in depth.
Gunjack uses Unreal Engine 4 for its pretty graphics, and it will be available alongside the next Samsung Gear VR headset.
