3D Realms is arguably going back to its roots. Its newest title is Bombshell, an isometric action shooter featuring a protagonist with a chip on her (bionic) shoulder—and lots of guns. Although the game is making a few waves at PAX Prime with a new gameplay trailer and a hands-on demo, the original E3 trailer is more illustrative. Check it out.
3D Realms is the same publisher that brought us the original Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, and Max Payne, so it's hardly surprising that lead character Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison has a bionic arm, a big mouth, and an attitude to match. Heck, she and Duke would probaby make a great couple, murder attempts aside. The game takes Harrison through a four-planet galactic adventure. Her mission: rescue the president from aliens. Clichéd, sure, but given the game's pedigree, it might be the good kind of clichéd.
Interceptor Entertainment is building the game on Unreal Engine, and 3D Realms says it's possible we'll see modding tools for the game at some point. Bombshell is set to explode "when it's done", which may end up being sometime this year.
