Peace is a lie, there is only passion. It's safe to say the Star Wars universe needs no introduction, and the official trailer for The Force Awakens is out. Watch it right here.
So, let's see. X-Wings and TIE Fighters? Check. Droids? Here. Stormtroopers? Of course. Darth Whassisname continuing where Vader left off? Darn right. Han and Chewie? Probably saying they're too old for this stuff. Lightsaber with crossguard? Uh... thank the Force for Cortosis, I guess.
And, of course, the unaware Jedi-to-be, this time a stormtrooper apparently gone rogue.
Seems like the trailer hits all the right womp rats. That's a lot more than what could be said about some "prequels" I faintly remember. J.J. Abrams is at this production's helm, something that's instantly recognizable by the fact that anything resembling an action scene looks like it was filmed by cameramen with Parkinson's.
Judging from the trailer, it looks like Star Wars is heading in a familiar but fresh direction, which can only be a good thing. The fact that the extended universe was declared non-canon may make some teeth grind (including mine, since I really wanted to see Admiral Thrawn on the big screen), but I think the trailer looks pretty slick overall. Your thoughts, Padawan?
