Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.11.1 fixes fan speeds and more

Just as it promised, AMD has posted a driver update that fixes issues with low fan speeds on some Radeon graphics cards. Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.11.1 also includes updates for recent big game releases.

The release notes for Catalyst Crimson 15.11.1 detail fixes for three issues related to AMD OverDrive that were apparently causing the issues with fan speeds that some users experienced. The OverDrive fan settings should no longer default to "on" after rebooting. After exiting a 3D application, the card's fan shouldn't reset to manual control, either. Finally, resetting AMD OverDrive settings should now be possible. AMD says users should reset the OverDrive control panel to its defaults after installing 15.11.1, just to be sure automatic fan controls are restored.

Some of this fall's biggest game releases are getting some love, too. AMD says problems with flickering snow and broken sky rendering in Star Wars Battlefront have been addressed. Radeon R9 390 users should no longer experience a flickering compass in Fallout 4, and the company is investigating similar issues on R9 290 and R9 295 X2 cards.  Just Cause 3, which comes out today, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 get a round of fixes, as well.

AMD says the driver also addresses a handful of issues in the Crimson control panel and installation process. Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.11.1 can be downloaded from AMD's download page. The company is still soliciting feedback on its new driver package, too.
