February's Mobile World Congress came and went without a new HTC flagship smartphone. Details of a new flagship from the company seem to be emerging in leaks, however, and VentureBeat has reported some new information about the device alongside some attractive renders. The company will apparently forego its traditional flagship naming scheme by calling the handset the HTC 10 rather than the HTC One M10.

The device's specifications were leaked earlier by a leaker who had access to a prototype version. According to that report, the HTC 10 will join other recently announced flagship devices by adopting the Snapdragon 820 SoC. That chip will be paired with 4GB of RAM. The 10's 32GB of onboard storage will apparently be augmented by a microSD slot. There's no word yet on battery size or battery life.

On the outside, the handset will reportedly feature a 5.1" 2560×1440 AMOLED display. The home button will have an embedded fingerprint sensor. The rear camera will reportedly use a 12MP sensor with laser-assist autofocus, and a selfie-shooter of some kind will of course be found in front. Reports indicate the port on the bottom of the rendered phone above is a USB Type-C port.

The phone will reportedly be released in April, and retail availability is rumored to begin in May. Hopefully we'll have access to more official information soon.
