MSI Aegis barebones shields gamers from low frame rates

MSI unleashed its Aegis barebones system today. This Mini-ITX gaming PC has striking looks and surprisingly petite dimensions, thanks to the use of a PCI Express riser. The Aegis' 600W 80 Plus Silver power supply is integrated into the machine's base, making the body of the PC even smaller.

Gaming and overclocking usually go hand-in-hand, but not in this case. The Aegis' motherboard uses the B150 chipset, and the processor selections on offer include the locked-down Core i5-6400 and Core i7-6700. MSI says the 600W PSU is powerful enough to feed a GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics card. 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 are included, along with a tray-load DVD-RW drive. Spaces for a 2.5" drive and a pair of 3.5" drives, plus a single M.2 socket, provide storage expansion.

MSI claims its "Silent Storm 2" fan design shoves air past the CPU, GPU, and PSU across three separate zones for quiet yet effective cooling. As with any fine gaming product, configurable RGB lighting is standard. MSI says you can pick up your own Aegis at the end of April, but there's no word yet on pricing.
