Gigabyte teams with EKWB for limited-edition liquid cooling bundles

Custom-loop liquid cooling can be a tricky task. Builders have to carefully select parts—else their expensive cooling hardware may not fit properly. Gigabyte is well aware of these challenges, and it's partnering up with EK Water Blocks to offer a pair of motherboards bundled up with customized waterblocks. These limited-edition board bundles come in Z170 and X99 flavors, and are called the Z170X-Gaming 7-EK and X99-Ultra Gaming-EK.

As you could probably deduce from the names, these bundles are each essentially a high-end gaming motherboard from Gigabyte's stable, matched up with a suitable EK waterblock. The blocks themselves are from the EK-Supremacy EVO line, and they're customized with Gigabyte's G1 Gaming logo. The bundles go on sale today, but only system builders in Europe will be able to take advantage.

    Ah good.

For a minute then, I though Gigabyte was trying to jump back on the “watercool your VRM and southbridge” bandwagon, which has been the most pointless and useless thing for Intel overclockers for at least 8 years now.

Seems this is just a marketing circlejerking excercise where your board has an EK logo and your block has a gigabyte logo. As long as it costs no more than the parts individually I’ll refrain from judiciously mocking the hell out of it.
