Cooler Master MasterMouse S fits itty-bitty gerbil hands

If you read our peripherals guide back in October, you're already aware of the Cooler Master MasterMouse Pro L. As it happens, the L in the name stands for "Large." Some folks like a miniature mouse, though, and to that end Cooler Master is now offering a downsized version called the MasterMouse S. The new rodent measures in at 4.6" x 2.5" x 1.5" (or 11.7 x 6.4 x 3.8 cm).

The smaller mouse also drops the "Pro" appellation, since it's not quite as fancy as its big brother. While the Pro L uses one of PixArt's high-end PMW3360 sensors, the MasterMouse S uses a PMW3330. This sensor "only" scales up to 7200 DPI, but is still a gaming-focused unit, meaning it won't have any of the prediction or acceleration issues found on mice with less-optimal choices for sensors.

Users can configure one of the buttons to act akin to a Shift key, activating secondary functions on the MasterMouse S's other five buttons. True to its gaming cred, the MasterMouse S offers RGB LED lighting along the wheel and the rear bottom edge. Like most high-end gaming peripherals these days, the mouse allows users to save all configured macros and settings to its onboard memory.

Cooler Master is also releasing the MasterMouse Lite S, which drops the RGB LEDs for simple white lighting, and downgrades the sensor to a more pedestrian PAW3509 with a 2000-DPI maximum resolution. The company says the MasterMouse S will be available in Europe "at the end of December 2016" for 40€, while the Lite version will go for 20€.

“True to its gaming cred, the MasterMouse S offers RGB LED lighting along the wheel ”

Stop this. You’re just encouraging the marketing idiots who come up with this shit.

Oh, I’m sure the *intent* is to be sarcastic, but you know some brain dead marketing monkey will read it as dead serious.

‘Yuge’ picture for an “itty-bitty” mouse.

At least show us where the Commander & Chief’s fingertips might rest on this thing for a sense of scale.
