TR’s 12 days of giveaways: G.Skill gives gerbils good gear

Greetings, fellow gerbils. It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that the TR Santa won't be making any more deliveries. We received a note from the North Pole simply saying, "I'm too old for this (unreadable)," with a picture of Detective Murtaugh wearing a Santa hat. We fear our giveaways have been cut short, folks.

Wait, what's this? We've been handed a large FedEx package, and it contains… a postcard. It's written in single-letter cutouts and just says "gotcha, suckers!" Sheesh, as if we didn't have enough wiseacres around here already. Let's dig deeper in the bag. Ooh, shiny! This is the bundle of G.Skill goods, with a Ripjaws KM570 RGB keyboard, a Ripjaws X780 mouse, and a set of Trident Z 3200 MT/s DIMMs. Wonderful! Let's take a look at each of these.

We hear unconfirmed reports that G.Skill USA has a christmas tree made entirely of RGB-LED-lit keyboards in its headquarters. The company did save one to offer our gerbils, though. The G.Skill Ripjaws KM570 RGB keyboard (a $120 value) offers rainbow lighting in a refreshingly basic-looking package. The RGB LED lighting is programmable on a per-key basis, and there's a dedicated volume control, too.

The keyboard above isn't the only thing with blinkenlights, though. G.Skill also added its Ripjaws MX780 mouse with RGB LEDs to the package (worth $50). This highly configurable rodent got a TR Recommended award in our review. Users can adjust the mouse's height, change the side grips, and tune the weight. An 8,200 DPI Avago sensor lies underneath the MX780 for pinpoint accuracy, too.

G.Skill's third item in the bundle is one we're particularly fond of: a pair of Trident Z 3200MT/s DIMMs, with a total capacity of 16GB (worth $135). We've been enamored with the look of these sticks ever since they first popped up. Their combination of high bandwidth, rock-solid reliability, and low latency should please any enthusiast, too.

We bet you're absolutely dying to know who will bag this bag. Let's have our contractual countdown: today we're starting from the number of Windows updates you had to roll back. All set? Great! We're drawing a random winner today, and that person is… Edward Staunton. Congratulations, the roll of the digital dice fell in your favor. Our biz handler will be in touch shortly to arrange for the delivery. Meanwhile, Krogoth tried to hack our random number generator, but our firewall wasn't at all impressed with his attempt.

Would you kindly raise and praise G.Skill? The company has been good friends with TR for a while now, and the prizes offered for our holiday season giveaway only reinforce that fact. Please go ahead and follow the company's Twitter feed, and hit Like on its Facebook profile.

Don't forget to sign up for the remaining random draws in TR's 12 days of giveaways. TR Santa still has goodies to deliver over the next few days, and you still have good chances. We'll have another giveaway tomorrow, but in the meantime, you can gaze at an item that may or may not be up for grabs:
