Good evening. We're all gathered here for the broadcast of the Giftus Maximus, the day where the grand prize is handed to a very lucky gerbil. All cameras are ready for the arrival of TR Santa. We even threw out a green carpet, to compensate for all the redness in his suit. We expect him to be flying in shortly. Okay, we're hearing some music in the distance, and it sounds rather grand. We see the sled in the distance now, coming in slowly. There's a heavenly glow around it, and cherubs in winter clothing playing harps. Quite a spectacle, we must say. TR Santa outdid himself for the grand prize.
The sled has landed, and the elves are unrolling long carpet. They're carrying a palanquin with red and golden curtains. The palanquin is real close now, and Santa is coming down the steps, carrying a bag made of silver-and-gold cloth. His elves are taking it from him and offering it to us in deference. We bow graciously and accept, and the procession heads back without so much as a word.
Let's see what's in this bag of valuables… oh, Santa is nuts. This is a grand's worth of gear. So much hardware, and all of it top-notch. This is the "Gigabyte and friends" pack—the grand prize. From Gigabyte, there's a Z170X-Designare mobo and a GTX 1070 G1 Gaming graphics card. There's also an Arctic Liquid Freezer 240 CLC and a Cooler Master MasterKeys Lite L combo pack. Let's look at each of these in detail.
The basis of any system is a good motherboard. And there are few models out there better than this awesome Gigabyte Z170X-Designare (worth a whole $240 on its own). This is a top-tier offering, and it's got almost two mobos' worth of gear in it. First off, there are three metal-reinforced PCIe x16 slots. Both SLI and CrossFire support are on the menu. Then, there's an Intel Alpine Ridge USB 3.1 controller with Thunderbolt 3 support. The USB 3.1 ports on the mobo support Power Delivery 2.0, too, which is good for pushing up to 100W of juice to peripherals. PCIe SSDs can be plugged into a M.2 slot or a U.2 port. There are also two Ethernet ports, also powered by Intel chips. Other nice touches include a Realtek ALC1150 codec, onboard RGB LED lighting, and plugs for plugging additional LED strips. Whew.
Such a fancy motherboard begets an appropriate video card companion. And few things are better-suited to that task than the Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (a $430 value). This triple-fanned beast comes with a GPU clocked to a maximum of 1822 MHz while in OC Mode. For color-coordination purposes, gamers can make use of the card's onboard RGB LED lighting. The Windforce 3X cooler offers direct-touch heatpipes and a metal back plate, too. Should our winner want to overclock this card even further, its 6+2 power phase design ought to lend a hand.
You may be wondering "that's all well and good, but what cooler will the winner use for that rig?" Well, this one right here: the Arctic Liquid Freezer 240 (worth $100). This CLC packs a 38-mm-thick radiator with not two, but four 120-mm fans. That massive combo should work out to a unit that may actually be able to cool an overclocked Pentium 4. The fans have a fluid-bearing design, and can spin from 500 RPM to 1350 RPM and push 74 CFM of air. Arctic says the included pump works with only 2W of juice, too.
Since this is our final prize, there's another bit of hardware to top it all off. Well, bits of hardware, in this specific instance. Cooler Master sent us a MasterKeys Lite L combo pack (a $60 value) for our grand prize winner. This pack includes a gorgeous MasterKeys Lite L keyboard with CM's own "Mem-chanical" key switches and RGB LED lighting, along with a specially-designed mouse. The rodent packs an optical Avago 3050 sensor capable of going up to 3500 DPI, two thumb buttons, dedicated DPI controls, and two-zone RGB LED lighting. Like any quality rodent, this mouse has Omron switches underneath the buttons.
So, here we are. The grand prize is on display, and you're all dying to know if you have the golden ticket. But first, a countdown, as per our contractual obligations. Today, we have a stumper: count down from the number of chucks that a woodchuck would chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood. All done? Great, let's bring out the envelope. And our grand prize winner is… Collin Winans! Congratulations, for fortune smiles upon you—and then some. This huge haul of hardware is yours for the taking. Our biz guy will be in touch with you soon. Meanwhile, Krogoth is still figuring out how many chucks a woodchuck can chuck.
This was about a grand's worth of prizes. Do stand up and offer a hearty, long applause to Gigabyte, Arctic, and Cooler Master. Also, please go on and follow Gigabyte's Twitter feed and hit Like on its Facebook profile—the company certainly deserves it.
Folks, that's a wrap. We hope you enjoyed TR's 12 days of giveaways. We'd like to extend our utmost gratitude to Gigabyte, Arctic, and Cooler Master for this grand prize. Please have a round of applause for the remaining sponsors that contributed to this veritable feast of hardware.
We also like to thank the members of our community and everyone who participated in the random giveaways. May the winners use their hardware well. Over and out.
