Deals of the week: Z270 mobos, RAM, a 10TB drive, and more

Greetings, gerbils! The buffalo's out on the loose and gerbils are probably stampeding after it. Despite all the attention turned towards the new and shiny Ryzen CPUs and motherboards, there are still deals out there on other hardware. We selected the best of them this week.

  • Kaby Lake is still pretty new on the market, but there are already some deals running on Z270 motherboards. Today's pick is the high-end Asus TUF Z270 Mark 1 mobo with Asus' trademark Thermal Armor, metal-reinforced PCIe slots, RGB LED lighting, two M.2 slots, and both Type-A and Type-C USB.  3.1 ports. Whew. Grab one at Newegg for $219.99 with promo code EMCRDRC23.

  • High-end boards are certainly enticing, but not everyone wants or needs something like that. Enter the MSI Z270-A Pro. This ATX board offers a metal-reinforced PCIe slot, Chemi-con capacitors in the audio path, six SATA ports, and an M.2 slot. Not too much, not too little, just right. And the price is, too: only $99.99 at Newegg, and there's a $10 rebate card on offer.

  • We keep doing deals on RAM so often that I'm tempted to just write up some template text for them. The G.Skill TridentZ 32GB kit clocked at 3000 MT/s with two 16GB DIMMs is going for $199.99 at Newegg. If you're building an X99 beast machine, you probably want the G.Skill TridentZ 32GB kit of four 8GB DIMMs with 3200 MT/s clocks. That one will run you up only $209.99.

  • All the talk these days is about the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, but us plebes have to make do with more sensible options. Like the MSI RX 470 4GB that's currently going for $164.99 at Newegg. If you take advantage of the $30 rebate card, the price goes down to a stupid-low $134.99.

  • A week rarely goes by without a deal on a big, fat hard drive, and today's contender is a large one indeed. The Seagate Barracuda Pro 10TB spinner offers a 7200RPM and a whopping 256MB cache. Did I mention its freakin' ginormous 10TB capacity? Only $409.99 at Newegg.

  • Powerline Ethernet is a great idea if you need a steady network connection but can't or can't bother with running some cabling in your home. The Trendnet Powerline AV500 Nano kit is a no-nonsense pair of powerline Ethernet adapters, and it's currently selling for only $19.99 at Newegg if you use promo code EMCRDRC36.

That's it for today, folks! If you found any sweet online deals that we missed, please share them with your gerbil brethren in the comments section below.

There's a chance you're looking for something we haven't covered. Not really a “deal” since apparently Nvidia announced it, but some GTX 1070s are starting to hit $349. [url=<]Here's a Zotac[/url<] with a triple-fan cooler.

The buffalo shall be remembered forever. For truly one cannot purport to “buy Zen” without bison.
