    What? No StarKist nostalgia?

I don’t even like tuna, but that narrator’s voice has stuck with me.

[quote<]Lockheed Martin plans manned Mars Base Camp for 2028 @ New Atlas[/quote<] I guess "manned" would get better press than "fully automated", but I think fully automated is probably the better way to go.

[quote<]FinalMouse Scream One Second Edition review @ TechPowerUp[/quote<] That looks like a pretty nice mouse, for a lot of the same reasons I like Zowie. It's good to see Zowie isn't the only company doing things that way.

I’m ineligible for the “contest” but I just need to point out that the fancy cottage cheese should have been named “flaveCURD”

This works well with a Dutch pronunciation of Gouda! 😀

[quote<]I still remember kids at my high-school protesting Cassini's launch, because nuclear[/quote<] They didn't stand outside during the daytime did they? Because if they did... [b<]THEY WERE DIRECTLY EXPOSED TO THE LARGEST NUCLEAR REACTOR IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM![/b<] Just sayin.

It was actually a concern that Cassini might have crashed into the Earth during one of its outbound maneuvers since it had it get “relatively” close to the Earth to get the “gravitational sling-shot” effect towards Jupiter in 1999. The probe had RTGs on-board that use Plutomium-239 (mildly radioactive [Alpha decay] but not fissile-grade). Crashing into Earth would have been “Dirty Bomb” going off whatever it landed. It isn’t the first time that RTG-equipped spacecraft crashed into the Earth though. (A few of the Nimbus satellites did crash but the on-board RTG wasn’t compromised)

And wouldn’t do much to increase background atmospheric radiation levels beyond what all the pre-Test-Ban above-ground explosions and Chernobyl (and now Fukushima) had already contributed.

Not to the local area where it might crash upon though. It was possible that RTGs could survive re-entry and crash into some populated area.

Confused by the naming of this day. Did something happen to Groo?
