Over a year ago, we reported that six Halo games were being ported to PC as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. What’s more, we reported that the games weren’t just coming to the Microsoft Store, but would also be made available on Steam. So far, Microsoft and 343 Industries have followed up on those promises, releasing Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Aniversary edition, and Halo 2: Anniversary edition on both the Microsoft Store and Steam. The games are also available on PC for those with Xbox Game Pass.
Microsoft has now announced that the next game in the collection, Halo 3, will be released on July 14th, with Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 set to follow later in the year. If Halo 3 follows the pricing of the three games that have come before, it will be available for $10 on the Microsoft Store and Steam. However, you can purchase the whole Halo: The Master Chief Collection for $40, which should save you $20 if you plan to buy all six games.
In other Halo-related news, Microsoft and 343 Industries are expected to reveal Halo: Infinite, the next game in the series, during the Xbox Series X first-party game showcase on July 23rd.
Well I guess this settles any bets about whether or not Halo3 would beat Halflife3 to market.
Not that there was ever any doubt.
Just to make sure, we here at Intel may pull a Sony/Microsoft and buy out Valve. Then the world will be safe from HL3 forever.
