AMD loses market share
AMD continues to lose market share
, which makes me wonder if everyone is holding out for the Athlon XP 2600+, which should tip up in some capacity this month. AMD will face even stronger competition in a few weeks when Intel introduces its Hyperthreading Pentium 4 3.06GHz and a Celeron 2.2GHz, both of which will bump down prices
on other Intel processors by about 20%. Despite the relatively poor
performance of the Pentium 4-based Celeron, Intel is likely to sell bundles of them to OEMs building mainstream PCs, which makes me wonder if the Duron's demise wasn't just a bit premature.
