This AP article about people giving up their landline phone service for cell phones is interesting. My brother recently made the switch, and I’ve sometimes contemplated it. The last bit of equipment in the house that really requires a land line is the TiVo, and I could always hack Ethernet into it. Landlines are also useful for dial-up Internet access in the event of a cable outage, I suppose, and we get too many call drops with Sprint PCS to convert completely. But it’s tempting to save the cash and stick it to Ma Bell by killing the land line, don’t you think?
