New Power Mac G5s looming?

This story over at Forbes lends some credibility Steve Jobs' assertion that Apple will have 3GHz G5s by the summer of 2004. IBM is apparently ready to deliver PowerPC 970fx chips built on a 0.09-micron manufacturing process, and Microprocessor Report's Editor in Chief expects Apple to roll out G5 systems between 2.4 and 2.6GHz as early as January. Apple's current G5 systems run at only 2GHz, making a jump to 2.6GHz much more than an incremental clock speed bump.
