Consortium to unveil HyperTransport 2.0

— 4:50 PM on February 5, 2004

eWeek is expecting the HyperTransport Technology Consortium to introduce version 2.0 of the interconnect next week. HyperTransport 2.0 will offer three different speed grades with between 12.8 and 22.4GB/sec of bandwidth. Interconnect bus widths will stay at 2, 4, 8, 16, or 32 bits, but clock speeds have been bumped up to between 1.0 and 1.4GHz. Apart from ramping up clock speeds, HyperTransport 2.0 will also be able to map to PCI Express interfaces.
