Prescott voltage and throttling investigated
are working on putting together the pieces of the new Prescott Pentium 4's thermal management picture. They spent some time with the Intel tech docs trying to determine why some motherboard manufacturers have disabled voltage adjustments for Prescott processors, and they seem to have an answer. They're also, it appears, raising questions about whether Prescott has the kind of performance-limiting thermal throttling some folks feared the original Pentium 4 had back in its infancy. Could it be? Hmmm.
