Italy gets tough on copyright violations

Think the RIAA's subpoenas are scary? They pale in comparison to a new law in Italy that makes unauthorized transfers of copyrighted materials over the Internet a criminal offense punishable by up to three years in jail. As if the threat of jail time weren't enough, national newspapers will apparently identify those found guilty.
