Tech workers increasingly "unfireable"
Take a look at this News.com story. It's basically discussing how unemployment is so low right now that firings are going down, because employers reason it's better to have a sucky employee than to fire them and be unable to replace them. Obviously this phenomenon is more pronounced in the tech market, where qualified people are even more difficult to find.
The article covers some interesting alternatives to firing (such as the "transfer them the hell out of my department" method) and it also explores some problems with the "no fire" method, chief among them the morale of other employees. All in all an interesting read.
