Savage2000 T&L at last

— 12:24 AM on May 1, 2000

The guys at Savage2000.com have put together some tests of the Savage2000-based Diamond Viper II with the latest drivers for the card. A lot of folks went and bought these cards thinking they were getting a true GeForce competitor with hardware transform and lighting, but—doh!—they got an S3-based video card instead; the Savage2K chip has a T&L engine, but only recently has S3 released drivers that make use of it—and only in OpenGL.

Anyhow, check out their tests using TreeMark and Quake III. Now, aren't you glad you saved all that money by passing up the NVIDIA?
