Xbox Linux cluster tested

— 10:35 AM on November 11, 2004

The folks at AnandTech have slapped together a cluster of eight hacked Xboxes running Linux. (Thanks to Lo Yuk Fai for the link.) They first test a modded Xbox against some some PC-based Linux boxes, then they turn an Xbox into a limited-function media center PC. Finally, all eight Xboxes are joined into a single Beowulf cluster and benchmarked. It's a fool's errand, perhaps, but a darned interesting one.
