Pentium 4 6xx series could come in February
A report at The Inquirer suggests
that Intel's Pentium 4 6xx series could launch as early as February of next year. The new chips will boast 2MB of L2 cache, EM64T 64-bit extensions, and an enhanced version of Intel's clock-throttling SpeedStep technology that promises to lower power consumption by up to 15W. 15W is nothing to sneeze at, but given how far behind
Intel is in the wattage department, the Pentium 4 6xx series likely won't challenge the Athlon 64's comparatively low power consumption under load.
