Intel to bring 64-bit tech to entire desktop line

— 12:11 PM on December 8, 2004

C|Net is reporting that Intel has plans to bring EM64T 64-bit capabilities to its entire desktop line in 2005. Even budget Celeron chips will get the 64-bit treatment, which could give them an edge over low-end AMD Sempron chips that lack 64-bit addressing. Of course, there's still no telling when Microsoft's Windows XP x64 Edition will emerge from beta.
