AMD demos dual-core Athlon 64

AMD has demoed a dual-core Athlon 64 desktop processor. Dual-core Athlon 64 processors are due out in the second half of this year, and according to AMD, they're "in production." Chips will be fabricated using a 90-nano manufacturing process, run at 2.4GHz, and dissipate a maximum of 100W. There's no word on whether other speed grades will be available, but the fact that AMD's processor roadmap shows the dual-core Athlon 64 replacing the Athlon 64 FX through the end of 2005 doesn't leave much room for optimism.
