Is SLI getting better?

We pointed out some serious practical limitations of NVIDIA's multi-GPU SLI technology in our last article about it. Now, with the release of the 70-series drivers, NVIDIA has improved SLI performance and compatibility. The cold, HardOCP has taken a look at the current state of SLI. They catalog some of the improvements, and they note a number of additional bug and snags with the new drivers. They also worry about the frequency of NVIDIA driver updates:
It worries us that it has been four months since the last official driver release. It makes us wonder if it will be another four months before those issues are fixed.
If I'd dropped the cash on an SLI rig, my worry would be the same. Let's hope the progress continues at a good pace.
