AMD promises cheaper dual-core chips

PC Perspective has an interesting interview with a trio of AMD executives. The interview reveals that AMD will eventually have cheaper dual-core processors available, and confirms that the Opteron 1xx series will be moving to Socket 939 to lower platform costs. Interestingly, AMD also claimed that unlike the Athlon 64, which was derived from the server-oriented Opteron, AMD's next desktop chip could be derived from a mobile design.
