NVIDIA G72 to arrive in early 2006
Citing sources at Taiwanese graphics card manufacturers, DigiTimes is reporting that NVIDIA's G72 graphics processor will arrive in early 2006. G72 is apparently a 90-nano version of the G70 GPU that powers the GeForce 7800 series. Interestingly, the article makes specific mention of the fact that G72's smaller die size will make it possible for multiple GPUs to be used on a single card. Not that multi-GPU cards haven't been done before; Asus and Gigabyte have already produced multi-GPU cards based on the GeForce 6 series, and Asus has a dual GeForce 7800 GTX card in the works, as well. Single-card SLI could become even more popular with G72, though.
