— 2:27 AM on October 11, 2005

Intel has officially unveiled its first dual-core Xeon processor. Designed for dual-processor systems, the new Xeon runs at 2.8GHz, has 2MB of L2 cache per core, rides an 800MHz front-side bus, and costs $1,043. That's about the same price as an Opteron 275, which runs at 2.2GHz and has 1MB of L2 cache per core.
