Asus brand to be spun into subsidiary company
According to DigiTimes, Asustek (owner of the Asus brand and business) intends to spin the Asus brand
into its own wholly-owned subsidiary company, with the intent of eventually listing it on the NYSE. If successful, Asus would be one of the first Taiwanese manufacturers to establish itself as a major brand within the US. Many of the retail motherboard manufacturers have other product lines or even system offerings that compete in East Asia, but very few of these systems make it to the US. If marketed correctly, Asus might be able to use its brand-name recognition in the computer enthusiast segment as a jumping-off point into rest of the US consumer market.
