939-pin Opterons to be available into 2006

Late last week, The Inquirer reported that AMD was ceasing production of 939-pin Opteron processors. AMD has now denied the rumor, pledging to support the Socket 939 Opteron 100 series into next year.
“Socket 939 AMD Opteron 100 Series processors are in production. AMD will continue to produce Opteron 100 Series processors with ECC unbuffered memory support in 2006, and we will adjust production volumes as needed to supply our server and workstation customers,” said Brett Jacobs, a spokesman for AMD.
Numerous retailers currently have the dual-core Opteron 165, 170, 175, and 180 for sale online, as well.
