Wireless chipset sales to triple by 2009
A new study
by market research firm In-Stat claims that the Wi-Fi chipset market will triple within the next three years from 140 million shipped units in 2005 to 430 million in 2009. While traditional wireless networks are increasing in speed and popularity, an In-Stat analysts claims that new types of devices, such as handheld game consoles, cell phones, and printers will be increasingly responsible for growth. With municipal Wi-Fi on the horizon, a future where wireless communication and Internet access are available anywhere on any device seems even more likely.
