Asus restructuring plans explored

— 12:33 PM on March 1, 2006

We reported yesterday that Asustek was planning to reorganize its business units. The company has made additional details available today, confirming that it plans to restructure into a "three-tier" configuration with four headquarters, three business groups, and fifteen product departments. This restructuring aims to give product departments more freedom, as each one will be assigned its own R&D, management and marketing teams. Asus hopes this move will allow its revenues to nearly double from $11 billion last year to $21.7 billion by 2008.

In related news, DigiTimes reports that Asus is planning to introduce new LCD TVs and Intel Viiv-based desktop PCs. The TVs will reportedly be 32" and 42" models, priced at $40,000 and $62,800 TWD ($1,240 and $1,945 USD), and will be shipping in May. The Viiv-based systems are to follow in June.
