Hynix execs to serve jail time
EE Times is reporting
that four Korean executives from Hynix Semiconductor will serve jail time in the US after reportedly participating in a global DRAM price-fixing conspiracy. The executives will serve five to eight month sentences in addition to each paying a $250,000 fine and cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Last April, Hynix was fined $185 million for the same price-fixing charges after settling with the US Department of Justice. Antitrust rulings also struck Infineon, which had executives jailed and fined in
December 2004, as well as Samsung and Elpida, which were fined $300 million and $84 million in November 2005 and January 2006, respectively.
