IT support business booming

Today could be a better day than ever to fix your neighbor's PC according to this report on CNET News.com. With demand for PC repair services skyrocketing, rates are also increasing, and companies like Geek Squad and Plumchoice are charging $100 flat fees for relatively simple tasks like running Windows Update, removing spyware, and reinstalling operating systems. Freelance support technicians such as Timothy Lugosi, who runs his own tech support business, are also charging $75 hourly rates for their services. While most of us long for the release of Windows Vista, those in the tech support business are likely quite content with the delays plaguing Microsoft's upcoming OS, which will introduce a significantly enhanced security model and better malware protection.
