Hacked ULi patch enables SLI on Intel, ATI boards
NGOHQ has managed to modify
a leaked ULi patch
that enabled SLI on ULi motherboards to bring SLI support to any chipset on a mobo with two PCI Express x16 slots. The patch enables SLI on Intel's 975X, VIA's K8T900, and ATI's RD480 and RD580 chipsets, and it also works with NVIDIA's own nForce4 and nForce4 Ultra, which are available on some boards with dual x16 slots. NVIDIA's lawyers will likely demand that the patch be removed from NGOHQ, but the prospect of using SLI on ATI motherboards is interesting nonetheless.
