Socket AM2 pricing revealed

— 7:11 PM on April 3, 2006

DailyTech has some pricing information for what appears to be the entirety of AMD's upcoming Socket AM2 launch lineup. Prices for the Socket AM2 Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 lines appear to be roughly identical to those of current Socket 939 offerings, but upcoming Socket AM2 Semprons will actually be cheaper than their Socket 754 predecessors. The Athlon 64 X2 line will also be augmented by 4000+ and 5000+ processors priced at $328 and $696, respectively, and the Semprons will gain 3500+ and 3600+ offerings priced at $109 and $123. Finally, AMD will be launching an FX-62 at $1,236, which will remain AMD's top of the line until 2007. All new chips will support DDR2 memory and should become available on June 6, with compatible motherboards to precede them by "several weeks" in order to ensure widespread availability.
