Microsoft has taken the wraps off the highly-anticipated Halo 3 at an E3 press conference today. A two-and-a-half-minute trailer is available on the Xbox.com website here, on GamersHell.com here, and on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Xbox.com describes the trailer:
The trailer started out with what appeared to be the ashes of Earth, remnants of street signs swaying in the wind. Out of the haze walked the most realistic looking Master Chief ever imagined, assault rifle in hand. Flashes of a familiar face cut in and out through static to set the stage for what appeared next. The trailer ends with the words "Finish the fight—2007," hinting that the game will ship next year.
Once the familiar Halo theme started, the scene panned out across a large valley revealing Covenant ships hovering over the surface as a massive structure blasted out of the ground below.
In addition to showing off Halo 3, Microsoft also announced an add-on HD-DVD player for the Xbox 360. No price is known, but the unit is expected to ship "in time for the 2006 holiday season," and it was showcased by Microsoft Corporate VP Peter Moore at the E3 event.
