Here’s the scoop, straight from the source:

Dear All:

ABIT, the world leader in motherboard and multimedia innovation officially
would like to assure the ABIT community that claims of a VP6 recall are
false. The ABIT VP6 mainboard will become available as planned.

Nor is there truth to the rumours of AGP incompatibilities. We at ABIT
adhere to the highest standards of quality control. The VP6 has been
rigorously and thoroughly tested prior to release and is compatible with all
current VGA graphics cards.

As a successor to the ABIT BP6, the VP6 has been the most highly anticipated
motherboard of the year, so we understand why rumours of a recall were a
source of concern for so many. But rest assured, the VP6 will provide you
with
the best performance and features for your dual PIII system and will ensure
complete stability, compatibility, and reliability.

News releases and other information about ABIT are available from our
website

Sincerely,
Eric Boeing
Manager, PR Dept.
ABIT Computer Corporation

Despite the rumors, it looks like SMP lovers are in for a merry Christmas after all.
